Our Team

Louis van der Berg

Louis, our principal clinical and counselling psychologist, brings a wealth of experience to his practice, having worked as a psychologist since 2007. Holding a master’s degree in psychology, Louis has met the rigorous standards of supervised practice and research required for endorsement by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

Throughout his career, Louis has worked extensively in child protection and child and family psychology, while also supporting adults facing challenges such as workplace injuries and people navigating complex psychological needs. His work reflects a deep commitment to providing therapy and assessments tailored to diverse client experiences.

Louis takes a holistic approach, working closely not only with individuals but also with their families, care teams, and schools. By fostering collaboration, he aims to enhance student wellbeing, strengthen family dynamics, and help create supportive environments that promote happier and healthier lives.

As an approved supervisor for the Psychology Board of Australia, Louis also supports and mentors provisional psychologists, sharing his expertise to shape the next generation of mental health professionals.

With advanced training in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), hypnotherapy and other evidence-based techniques, Louis will work with you to find a method that suits you.

Whether you’re seeking therapy, psychological assessments, or professional supervision, Louis provides compassionate, personalised support to help you achieve your goals.

Because of Louis’ specific expertise and teaching commitments, his availability is often limited. Feel free to inquire, and we can give you details about his schedule.

Thomas Trebilco

Thomas Trebilco is a registered psychologist who works with adults, adolescents, and families. He provides evidence-based therapy for anxiety and depression (including cognitive behaviour therapy), with a practical, collaborative style focused on clear goals and skills you can apply between sessions.

Alongside therapy, Thomas offers cognitive (neurocognitive) and psychoeducational assessments. His assessment background includes cognitive functioning, learning disorders, and neurodevelopmental presentations (including developmental delay, autism, and ADHD). He has particular interests in attention and executive functioning, memory, learning, and academic achievement (including reading, writing, and maths where relevant), and aims to translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations for day-to-day life.

Thomas also provides parent consultation and child behaviour support when family or developmental factors are part of the picture, with an emphasis on strengthening routines, emotion regulation, and everyday functioning.

Thomas holds a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) and is completing a PhD at Flinders University. His research background includes behavioural genetics and the links between stress and male health outcomes, as well as an ongoing interest in psychological research methods. This supports a balanced understanding of psychological and biological influences on wellbeing, and an evidence-based approach to assessment and treatment.

Outside of work, Thomas is the father of a young family, and values approaches that are realistic, respectful, and sustainable in busy lives.
